Jo Anne and Family
Wednesday we had planned to spend the afternoon with Glenn's sister, Jo Anne, but we got mixed up in our directions and ended up spending much of that time driving around the area of Spring, Texas before we found the house. We started out in overcast weather in Huntsville, drove into sunny, blue skies, and ended up in a loud and showy thunderstorm for our unplanned afternoon drive through the neighborhoods of Spring. Feeling rather silly, we finally arrived finding Jo Anne in the driveway (for heaven knows how long) waiting to flag us down. We were invited into their warm and lovely home and welcomed by a "Welcome Home Glenn and Nancy" display that Jo Anne had prepared using scrapbooking techniques. Their home was lavishly decorated for fall and we were treated to a tour first thing. All three of James and Jo Anne's daughters were there for dinner and we enjoyed a thoroughly delightful evening together. James and Jo Anne, their daughter, Julie, and their grandson, August (4 years old) live in this very new and fabulous home surrounded by much of Glenn's childhood family furniture which Julie cherishes and has used as the centerpiece of her decor. August was not all that thrilled about our presence in his space and hid behind his mom at first, but after awhile, he quietly crawled up next to me on the couch with a book which he surreptitiously pushed in my direction. From then on August and I got along just fine. James and Jo Anne's other two daughters, Jean (and husband Anthony) and Judy, came later. There is more to this story, but since this is a public blog, I'll share more detail on our family site. For now, here are a few photos from that evening. Unfortunately, Glenn and I had a miscommunication--I thought he was taking photos of the house and he thought I was. Consequently, there are no photos of the house which is very disappointing because it was truly lovely. You'll have to take my word for it.

We have few photos of their home, but we do have much video...at least I took lotsa that! We took our laundry, and that's when I washed my wallet! It has (had) a blue lining, and turned all my dollar bills (few) Navy blue. It was great seeing James and Jo Anne in their retired years in such a lovely setting. I was proud of and happy for them.
