Inn at Fulton Harbor

Yesterday we flew into Corpus Christi which is where Glenn's sister, Dillie, lives and the closest airport to Fulton where the reunion is being held.Fulton Harbor is an utterly charming little town right on the Gulf coast. The Inn at Fulton Harbor is across the street from the marina and a huge park. We've had lots of fun exploring and have taken close to 500 pictures so far of the pelicans (big novelty to a Washingtonian!), herons, (this one was standing alongside the road into town) and egrets. Of those 500, there are a handful of good ones. Thank goodness for digital cameras! More (lots more--prepare yourselves!) on the birds later. Our first outing in Fulton was to Moondogs, set right on the water. Fabulous setting, not so fabulous food, but it was worth it (I think).Last night we met our fellow reunion-ites and went to dinner at Charlotte Plummer's seafood restaurant across the street. Everyone raved about the food, but Glenn and I were not so thrilled. But the company was great--all of Glenn's classmates are friendly, fun and interesting.

The inn and the town are a great place for the reunion. I'm really enjoying meeting old classmates again and reminiscing about the "then and now." There are some definite surprises, such as the fact that 19 of our 78 (24%--one-fourth) have died! And one guy in the Air Force flew over 100 combat missions, retired, became a captain (sailboat skipper) and has sailed chartered vessels all over the world--a captain for hire! And a girl I once dated developed Alzheimer's in her 40's and died (Nancy says I drove her to it)! And one guy who dropped out of school in about the 9th grade now owns a tugboat company with four tugs, operating out of the Port of Houston and pushing cargo along the whole intercoastal waters of the Texas coast! And so forth and so on. Tonight is the big Reunion Dinner at the Rockport Country Club! Whoo-who!

I can't wait to hear how the reunion went! Interesting about the deaths; to be expected but I'm sure it is shocking none-the-less, especially the 40 year old with Alzheimers. I bet it is really fun hearing the stories and finding out what everyone has become! Fulton Harbor sounds delightful - can't wait to see all the nature pics!
