Mount Eden, a dormant volcanic crater, is the highest natural point in the Auckland area at 164 meters (over 600 feet) above sea level. The 360 degree views were amazing.
Auckland is built on field of dormant (thank goodness) volcanos. From Mt Eden, you can see many of the main ones, and it's kind of alarming, really. It was really fun to stand atop this highest point.

Yes, Auckland does sprawl in all directions. And our prime tour guide, Taryna, seems to know every street!
