Some fairly heavy rain and strong winds brought high surf warnings and lots of water up onto the roads and walkways. Here are a couple of surf shots that don't do justice, of course.
I didn't go swimming this year...didn't want my name to appear in the newspaper. There were 180 rescues throughout the islands one day, of which 120 were on Oahu, and most of those were at Waikiki, where we were. Even a few experienced surfers died.
