Weekend Jaunt: San Juan Island

San Juan Island was spectacularly beautiful this weekend with picture-book weather. My photos don't begin to tell the story, but here are the few that made the cut (I got carried away taking pictures of my grandson instead.) The eagle put on quite a show... too bad my vantage point (peek-a-boo view through the trees) was not the best for catching it with the camera.

Horsetail... so lovely when it's not in the flower bed!

Dahlias in formal garden at "English Camp National Park"

Honeybee buried in Verbena.

Bald Eagle on the sunny rocks off Pear Point. I snapped many a picture of this beautiful eagle, but this is the only one even close to being decent.

Sparrows at Roche Harbor

All photos taken with Olympus C-740 Ultra Zoom.

I prefer "English Camp"...that's what's on the sign at the entrance and on most maps. It's where the park service man taught Isaiah how to fold the American flag. That night, he packed every piece of clothing by folding it the same way...his pack was full of triangles!

What a great shot of this sparrow!
